I have no plans to vote for Bernie Sanders. I predict that the DNC will vote for Warren or Biden. But I also don’t believe in fear or gossip, and I believe in truth and distinctions. Government Shutdowns, Amnesia, and Blame
Winston Churchill is often quoted as having said, “We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out.”
How true that is. The words we say sometimes become the words we must later eat. If they turn out to be true, they must apply to us. If they turn out to be false, then we are proven false. Either way, our words we must eat.
This weekend the American public witnessed a government shutdown, the first in 5 years. This is the first time in U.S. history that a government shutdown has occurred while the White House, Senate, and House of Reps. all being controlled by a single party. The shutdown is still ongoing. By the time Barack Obama was about to be elected, I had just enrolled in a Master’s program in English, having grown up around conservatives and now surrounded by liberals. I had a respect for both Republicans and Democrats and their differing perspectives, but didn’t feel like either one. I’ll never forget the emerging polarization as Obama was elected: the celebration and the grief. Obama’s presidency is the first I witnessed since coming to a political maturity. Under his presidency, and my college education, I learned the depth and complexity of American politics and culture.

On “Freedom” in Jonathan Franzen’s Novel, Freedom
Jonathan Franzen has said of fiction that if it “isn’t an author’s personal adventure into the frightening or the unknown” it “isn’t worth writing for anything but money.” The author’s passion we read in his the novel Freedom was hardly an adventure for money. This novel hurts to read. It makes you ache. It makes you depressed. I makes you yearn for the freedom of having finished it.

DeMint’s letter to Putin can be found here.
DeMint would need to provided evidence that America is dedicated to the universal principle of human liberty. Given recent events, as well as the conditions of the African American and American Indian during the early years of The United States, this principle is not clearly held, and if one were to prove that it is and was, one would bear the burden of proof. Perhaps DeMint will provide such proof in his sequel letter?

In more proof that “Central Intelligence Agency” is an oxymoron, official documents show that, indeed 25% of those killed in strikes were identified as “other combatant” based on “circumstantial evidence”. The document betray’s the Central Infidel Agency’s policy of “kill first; ask questions later”.
It’s time to take more money from the US military and put it in places that will actually do some good in the world.
